The Asking

Meghan had always said that she wanted to get engaged at Christmas -- favorite holiday of hers and you don't have to worry about a separate Christmas present (her theory). Not having the patience to wait that long after I had the ring, I decided to have a little "Christmas in September."

After a trip to Bob's Christmas World (not as impressive an establishment as the title implies), I returned to the apartment with an assortment of what could only be described as Christmas decorations. Wreath went onto the door, empty boxes got wrapped, lights got strung around the foyer, four foot artificial Christmas tree set up, etc.

When Meghan arived home from working in the lab, I greeted her at the door. I was wearing a suit with a green tie and a red Santa hat and I had Christmas music playing in the background. I wished her a "Merry Christmas" and invited her to open up her Christmas present (a small red box under the tree). That was followed by the knee thing... yadda, yadda, yadda... and we were engaged.

That's my version (the "guy version"). For more details and gushing, talk to Meghan.
